“Much of the time we pretend we aren’t clear on what our calling is when what’s really going on is that we’re horrified to face it because it seems too big or too impossible to make a living at or completely out of the question for us.
But what if you had the audacity to leave your excuses and your shame about wanting to be huge and fabulous behind and really went for it full-on anyway? What if you decided to do the most outrageous, most exciting thing you ever dared fantasize about, regardless of what anyone, including your terrified self, thought?
THAT would be living.”
–Jen Sincero, You are a Badass
I want to be a writer. But that will never happen if I don’t write and actually put my writing out there (in the world for people to see). And so, although this is absolutely terrifying, I’m starting here with this blog. It will more than likely be a series of things I read or consume that I want to expound on or share how it impacted my thinking. Like this quote by Jen Sincero. Her book, You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life, is full of nuggets like this one. (I could probably write a whole post on the book when I’m done.) This particular quote, however, made me realize that I have to just go for it. Although it currently seems like a distant dream. Although I’m still in the process of finding and grasping my voice. Although I still feel the need to write using the rule of three.
Besides, if I mess up here, who will reeeeeaally know?
